“Her text” project is centered around a new female-led conceptual dictionary. Exploring its own
community built for communication and interaction towards the existing language system through collecting, writing, typography, workshop, and publishing. The community continues to collect voices from different women and create
words for each voice through typography design according to the structure of existing
“Nvshu” scripts (A secret language used only among women in ancient China). These voices/words will be centered around how to break the BOUNDARY of
women with a feminist + emotional lens.

Recent Activity
Her text workshop at RCA
After a period of preparation, the first workshop took place at the Royal College of Art, White City Campus. During the workshop we worked on dialogue, calligraphy and typography, henna tattoo making to help them create their own text. The column includes most of the collection of calligraphy for the workshop and specific information about Her Text workshop. We plan to do a smaller again next week in Rose‘s backyard (about 7-8 people), the booking is currently full.

Her text glossary and new words
This contains all the beautiful/powerful/touching words that have been created, from women from different countries who are involved in the community. It also mentions the systems and steps of typography, as well as how to use the texts in question in the web.

Experiments done in the RCA printing lab. Colour/dialogue/connection/mystery. The meaning of the text was provided by Angela (the left) and Kelsey (the right).

Láadan Language
"Nvshu" is a gender language
that exists and only used among women in ancient China)
Its works were a way for women to lament by communicating sorrows, commiserating over Chinese patriarchy. Laadan is the feminist language of a science fiction novel, including many words adapted to women's emotional and expressive needs.

‘Her Text Archive’ is a collection of authentic literary works published by scholars in the field of language and gender, a glossary of laadan languages, historically relevant women scholars, and typographic experiments with this new languages.

Letterpress Printing
Making a dictionary by using letterpress printing techniques. As a language, a formal
and professional-looking dictionary is necessary. Even if each text is personal and not universally
objective.

“New Nvshu” Typeface Design / The hieroglyphic typeface
My previous work includes my attempts at two forms of the typeface for female language.' The first typeface "New Nvshu" is very similar to the original "Nvshu". The second one is a hieroglyphic typeface based on a collection of women's habitual movements.
